This is a demo notebook entry, written for the Marginalia project.

An image is easy to save. The reason for saving it is more fragile. A week later, five similar versions can look like five equally plausible starting points.

The note beside the rejected version is therefore part of the work. It can be one sentence: “The orange line attracts attention before the larger form is legible.” That observation carries more information than a filename ending in final-03.

A small habit

Before moving on, write three things:

  • What changed.
  • What became clearer.
  • What still feels unresolved.

The unresolved part gives the next session a beginning. It also lets the current session end. A notebook does not have to turn every loose thread into a conclusion.

The blank space under a short note can stay blank. Some days, the honest record is simply that one line moved and the drawing improved.
